The Kansas City Defender is a radical Black-led Community organization producing news, Mutual aid, art, and cultural programming for Black people in Missouri and Kansas. They are an abolitionist organization and a vehicle to contribute concretely to the social, economic, cultural, and political uplift of Black people.

Madison Lyman is a senior at Lincoln College Prep. Lyman is also a writer and community programs leader for The Kansas City Defender in addition to being the student representative for the Mayor's Reparations Commission Board. 

The Urban League of Greater Kansas City's mission is to enable African Americans to secure self-reliance, parody, power, and civil rights. and one of their main goals is to ensure that Black youth are well-educated and equipped for self-reliance.
